Pokemon Theater


The goal was to create a meaningful controller for an existing software. I chose to turn Pokemon from the handheld experience to one where two players could work together. To accomplish this goal, I created a table that two players could sit at, and have half of the controls in front of them. The game is projected onto a wall, creating a theatrical viewing experience. The process started from sketch to cardboard prototype, to a 3D model, to a functional wooden prototype. The process forced me out of my comfort zone as a designer to learn new skills and physically build something a user could interact with. New techniques and tools used to construct the table included wiring switches & breadboards, a Raspberry Pi, 3D modeling software, and a CNC machine.
